A gray stone torii gate and a pair of also gray stone lanterns in front of a path that leads through woods to a small countryside shrine that's barely visible in the background. On the torii hangs a rope with a last remaining shide paper streamer, the rest has been blown off.

Shizuhara Shrine, located on the outskirts of Kyoto City (15km from the city center), was founded in the 4th century. Its main building sits at the foot of Mt. Jodani, surrounded by towering Japanese cedars that create a serene, mystical atmosphere.

The Sangu Shrine (三宮神社) surrounded by highrises in central #Kobe

In the middle of the busy city of Kobe, looking straight at a old japanese shrine building across the street intersection, which has wide a wide crosswalk. A few trees grow on shrine grounds and at the side of the street. People are walking over it and the connected sidewalks. On the street, three cars are moving to the right of the frame. In the background on the left, there's a high rise building and on the right, there two smaller buildings with 8 and about 15 floors respectively.

The shrine's gate is parallel to the road in the foreground - I was standing on the other side and at an acute angle as I took the pic - the dark wooden shrine is at a 90-degree angle. There are large but because it is winter barren trees. The midday sun is slightly backlighting the scene. The sky is slightly overcast but the sun is coming through strong.
