Last Light Lake Tahoe

It's pretty amazing how fast the sun drops in the sky when your in the mountains. One minute I was relaxing with my wife, we were commenting on a wedding that was taking place down the beach away. By the time I noticed that the sun was setting I had to rush to get my gear together and set up on this dock in South Lake.

Two suns converge sunset. Scoville Reservoir, Wolcott, Connecticut. April 18, 2020, 7:06 PM.

The evening sky is a pale blue gray. We are standing beside a rippling stream, bankfull from April showers. A short distance ahead through the leafless trees we see a portion of the lake into which the stream is about to empty its waters. Other than patches of moss and a few stray blades of new grass there is not much green going on yet in the forest surrounding the stream and the lake. The lack of leaves allows us to watch the bright pale orange sun setting behind the trees and its reflection on the lake below slowly converge.

An older test shot with my Canon 6D and EF 85mm f1.8. I don't have a problem with the 6D's less elaborate auto focus system. You just have to plan your shot a little better to compensate for the lack of auto focus points. But I should have brought a longer lens, to seperate the rider from the background a bit more. Also had to crop this shot quite a bit.
