Kahuna, the IndexedDB-Manager Webextension

Been working on my own feed reader called #BlogCat.

It is a #WebExtension that adds lots of blogging related features to #Firefox. I spoke about it in a previous post.

Today, I implemented posting to #Mastodon from it. The #Web is a conversation, your blogging tools should allow you to participate on the blogosphere and not only consume it.

Next steps: Bluesky and Micropub.

# random thinks about #WebExtension

I remember some people and I complained about that tridactyl (, vimium or some other addons) does not work in other addon's page (the url starts with `moz-extension://`).

Now I come-up with a work-around, which is to ask other addons do not open their `moz-extension://` page directly, but open a `about:blank` and inject their html content to it. All addon can request the permision to `about:blank` in manifest.json.

I created a new extension to more easily export your Claude transcripts into Markdown, based on earlier work by @simon.

Orbit (https://orbitbymozilla.com) — бесплатный ИИ-ассистент от Mozilla в виде расширения для браузеров на основе Firefox. Он способен пересказывать содержимое страниц или транскрипции видео на YouTube, а также отвечать на вопросы по тексту. Понимает русский язык, но пишет на английском.

Mozilla заявляет, что это "ИИ, которому можно доверять", и он "уважает конфиденциальность". Однако Orbit с закрытым исходным кодом и тексты отправляются на серверы Mozilla, размещённые на облачной платформе Google, а ещё собираются технические данные. Они обещают не сохранять тексты и не обучать модели. Используется модель Mistral 7B.

Пользователи часто критикуют Mozilla за то, что они занимаются чем угодно, лишь бы не браузером Firefox. В этот раз не исключение — непонятно, зачем вообще нужен этот Orbit. Сервис считается экспериментальным, и может быть в будущем его вообще закроют или сделают платным.
