Miller's Nembrotha Nembrotha milleri is a species of sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, found in the tropical Indo-Pacific ocean. It is a specialist feeder, primarily consuming solitary tunicates (sea squirts), they are found on open reefs with plenty of sea squirts, typically at depths of 3 to 30 meters. It has a grey-green to dark green body with blackish longitudinal wrinkles running down the length of the body. Many specimen of this sea slug lack rhinopores.

Happy birthday to me! I celebrated with a chilly, but outstanding dive at Peirce Island in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this morning. The tides and currents limit the time window for diving at this location, but it is absolutely spectacular this time of year. The nudibranchs were so dense we barely moved during out 30 minute dive.

Some images from a lovely dive at Canoe Beach in Nahant, Massachusetts last week.

Flabellina affinis is a species of sea slug, in the order Nudibranchia, this species is found in depths to 50 meters in European waters in the Atlantic Ocean from Portugal to Ghana and the Canaries and is widespread in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a violet-colored sea slug with finger-like projections called cerata on its back. The cerata have white tips and an opaque violet band just below the tips.
eats the polyps of hydroids, tiny predators related to jellyfish, is immune to the hydroid's toxins and can even repurpose them for its own defense. It can grow to 50mm in length, is a violet-colored sea slug with a translucent body. Its foot is a lighter shade of pink-purple, and its rhinophores are thin.
