@TechConnectify Something about content recommendation algorithms that deeply disturbs me is that 1) they are meant to maximise profits, no matter the cost/harm to users and everyone else, and 2) that whatever maximises profit is often genuinely very harmful.

@TechConnectify The main ways many people are on the internet and often the main ways they get information about the world have become draining, depressing, frustrating, infuriating because showing us bad news is profitable, because angering us is profitable, because making us addicted and putting us in Skinner boxes is profitable.

@TechConnectify If I lean a bit out the window, I'd even say that this is a driving factor behind current political developments, and by that I mean the rise of populism and far-right (and extremist in general) propaganda, with all the xenophobia, hate and anti-democratic bullshit they bring with them.
I don't know how to fix this.
