A piece with mixed emotions connected to it.
I learned knitting from my mom, about 50 years ago.
After getting sick about 2.5 years ago, she had to give up any fibercrafts and so I made this stole for her - it were just her colors.
When she died last year, I took that stole with me. It's absolutely not in my colors, so I have a hard to combine it with anything but I still wear it now and then.

@FanCityKnits @fiberarts how textile works connect us with our loved ones! My granny used to add a few crocheted potholders into parcels that she sent me. After 30 years of using them, they have become frayed around the edges. I have just spent two days crocheting around the edges and making them usable for many more years. It was a peculiar experience to stick the hook into exactly the same stitches she made many years ago!
Oh, this is absolutely lovely.
I didn't get crochet potholders from my mom, but I think there are still the ones she used in her kitchen. Maybe I should "rescue" them - hideous color or not.
@FanCityKnits https://a.gup.pe/u/fiberarts I too have kept the knitted and woven object I made for my mother in law who passed away. They are not my colors for the most part, but I thought of using some remnants of the yarn I still have to make swatches and test using dyes to adjust it to something more wearable for me so they can get more regular use.
That's a great idea!
@FanCityKnits @fiberarts Maybe turn it into pillows?
These colors fit into home even less than into my wardrobe.
I'm fine with it as it is. It's a reminder of my mom and the hobby we've shared for so many years.
@FanCityKnits@tr.cafeI I really like the soft fuzzyness of it. My grandma made me mittens from salvaged yarn and I wore them for decades. All that love in every stitch.
