neville park<p>I almost forgot it was <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/MiteMonday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MiteMonday</span></a>! From under one of my reliable dead logs just a few days ago, a mesostig with its prey, a tiny white springtail; a slug for scale; and a smaller, paler mesostig crossing paths with another springtail (which it did not try to eat). </p><p><a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/DailyMitePic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DailyMitePic</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Mitestodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mitestodon</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/arachnids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arachnids</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/mites" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mites</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/springtails" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>springtails</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Acari" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acari</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Parasitiformes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Parasitiformes</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Mesostigmata" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mesostigmata</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Collembola" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Collembola</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Poduromorpha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Poduromorpha</span></a></p>
Jer 🚵🏼<p>I found a video of them in winter from 2019. It’s not a very stable video (who to focus on??)<br> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SpringTails" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringTails</span></a></p>
Jer 🚵🏼<p>I've seen some really great closeup photos of Springtails on here, but have you ever seen piles of them? I think the first time I ran across Springtails was on a warm day in the winter where snow around a tree's base was purple-ish and on closer examination it was also moving. Snow fleas, but they aren't actually fleas and they show up sometimes without any snow.<br><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SpringTails" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpringTails</span></a></p>
neville park<p><a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/MiteMonday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MiteMonday</span></a>: wintertime rock flipping turned up some penthaleids and those iridescent purple springtails, not quite sure what they are. They were about the same size (see third photo). </p><p><a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/DailyMitePic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DailyMitePic</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Mitestodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mitestodon</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/arachnids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arachnids</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/mites" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mites</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Acari" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acari</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Acariformes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Acariformes</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Penthaleidae" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Penthaleidae</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/springtails" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>springtails</span></a> <a href="https://flipping.rocks/tags/Collembola" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Collembola</span></a></p>

Vermutlich wissen nur ganz wenige Nachbarn, was <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/Kugelspringer?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Kugelspringer</a> (hier: Dicyrtomina ornata) überhaupt sind. Für mich ist das wie ein Besuch bei alten Freunden. <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/springtails?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#springtails</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/nature?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#nature</a>
