Heechee Hacker<p>From Reddit: The NEC N5200 is a curious little workstation from 1987. It runs proprietary PTOS on an Intel 286. This version comes with a hard drive and boots from it. You can select boot option via a toggle on the case front</p><p><a href="https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1inql9q" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">reddit.com/gallery/1inql9q</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/retrobattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrobattlestations</span></a>, <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/vintagepc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintagepc</span></a></p>
FozzTexx<p>For the stocking themselves I finally made a sort of "name tag" so that people could figure out which stocking goes to who. I semi-randomly pick stockings to fill based on how much stuff needs to go into them, so I've never sewn names onto them. Instead I made custom <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/3DPrinted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinted</span></a> pins of things that certain people are very into. For my mom an alligator, Snoopy for my dad, "caffeine" for my sister, and of course the <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroBattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroBattlestations</span></a> logo for me.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/Christmas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christmas</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a></p>
FozzTexx<p>Check it out! I made a <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroBattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroBattlestations</span></a> pin! It’s <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/3DPrinted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinted</span></a> in two pieces, with a slot for a safety pin. Just insert the safety pin then snap the two halves together. <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/crafts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>crafts</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/3DPrint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrint</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
FozzTexx<p>On a side note, I *still* haven't managed to repair my T3200SX power supply. I was really hoping to use it this year but I have no clue about repairing switching power supplies. 😔</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroBattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroBattlestations</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/PortableWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PortableWeek</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/VintageComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageComputing</span></a></p>
FozzTexx<p>It’s been a long time since the last <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroBattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroBattlestations</span></a> contest (due to reasons), but I can't let <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/PortableWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PortableWeek</span></a> just fade away! So announcing the 10th annual Portable Week contest on RetroBattlestations! Hopefully the reddit post gets plenty of updoots and awesome entries to fuel my energy and keep things rolling!</p><p><a href="https://redd.it/1gy2f90" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">redd.it/1gy2f90</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/VintageComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageComputing</span></a></p>
FozzTexx<p>I remember back in 1986 drooling over getting a Softstrip reader, but I couldn't afford it and magazines were slowly dying by then. </p><p>I got one a few years ago &amp; dreamed of using Softstrip format to distribute programs for <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroBattlestations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroBattlestations</span></a> BASIC Month contests. But, as <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://dialup.space/@TechTangents" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>TechTangents</span></a></span> points out in the video, few people bought Softstrip readers back then, making it extremely rare among <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> enthusiasts today—dashing my plans.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/VintageComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageComputing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.fozztexx.com/tags/AppleII" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AppleII</span></a></p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIGotStRCkA&amp;list=PLC8tsvElk1S1H_HY30WIxSqbGpooas-N-&amp;index=54" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=mIGotStRCk</span><span class="invisible">A&amp;list=PLC8tsvElk1S1H_HY30WIxSqbGpooas-N-&amp;index=54</span></a></p>
