I'm testing #plasma #x11, to see if I can go around at least the internal keyb issue mentioned here en.osm.town/@mdione/1143769880 It's been a while, and I forgot its drawbacks: at least, scale is global and it can't only control external monitor's brightness. Long live #wayland.

Let's ignore that #Linux does not detect its builtin speakers, since they're the crappiest ever, maybe even worse than my laptop's. I connected my wireless (not BT) mouse and USB-A keyboard to it and everything seemed fine. But since sometimes I need an extra USB-A cable or two (mostly something to charge my phone and maybe connect a USB stick or SD card adapter).../1

#PSA: things that are still broken in #KDE #Plasma #Wayland session (minor) as of 6.3.4

  • Windowshade only works with X11 windows
  • No compatibility with wtype, and ydotool doesn't handle Unicode (or at least, not emoji) (So, now way to inject text into the active window, like for an emoji picker)
  • No way (that I've found so far) to get the title/name of the active window
    • Correction: this is doable with kdotool: kdotool getwindowname $(kdotool getactivewindow)

That's it so far. I'll add to this if I find/remember anything else.

One more thing I've just observed: the mouse cursor doesn't disappear in LibreOffice Calc when just moving the selection cursor with the arrow keys. It does disappear (as I have specified in settings) when you actually type something in, though.

Boah, ne, #Dolphin in #KDE #Plasma wurde jetzt auch noch die Statusbar gestrichen und das an alle ausgerollt. Glücklicherweise in den Einstellungen unter Benutzeroberfläche → Status- & Adressleisten → Status Bar: "Full width" + "Größenregler anzeigen" wiederherstellbar.

Sieht ohne Statusleiste außerdem voll hässlich aus, das Fenster.
Kein Geschmack.
