Let's explore virtualizing the different BSDs on Apple Silicon.
I ran an Ubuntu update and rebooted my Microsoft Surface Go 2 and this screen popped up. I've tried booting from a USB but not having any luck as this keeps popping up.
The preface all of this, I lost my charger for my surface at the end of December and finally got one today. I plugged it in and it booted like normal. Wifi was connected and I was able to apt-get an update. This is the screen I'm getting now. I've let it sit in the charger for about an hour at this point.
Any suggestions to move forward (ie force boot to USB?) or is this thing cooked?
Dear Linux users,
What file manager do you use on your distro?

PewDiePie is using Linux on an ASUS ROG AM5 motherboard so that probably means he'll have to add pcie_port_pm=off pcie_aspm.policy=performance
to the kernel parameters or igc will panic lol

While looking into ways of putting a cache in front of a RAID array, I went on a little tangent. Turns out you can use a regular file as a sort of virtual storage device, and it's actually very easy to do. This is commonly used for swap files (moving memory on and off slower storage when RAM gets low) and virtual machine images, but you can use it for other things too. I wrote about it here https://aires.fyi/blog/mounting-a-file-as-a-drive/
My #PC got an upgrade... Well okay, I exchanged my 120gb ssd with an 2tb ssd for further #linux testing, even though I'm super happy with #Nobara41 since I'm using it.
I did hate #windows11 since the first second of using it and the support was very incompetent and unfriendly.
