the roamer<p>Little known fact (*): Carl von Clausewitz in 1815 took a correspondence course in "Die chinesischen Schriftzeichen" at the University of Giessen, and he tried his hand at translating Sun Tzu's Art of War into German. Given his limited understanding of the language and the culture, this proved difficult. His draft translations strayed off the source quite dramatically. Each draft grew into a chapter of what later became Clausewitz's Vom Kriege.</p><p><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Clausewitz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Clausewitz</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/SunTzu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SunTzu</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/FactOrNot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FactOrNot</span></a></p><p>(*) or not.</p>
