Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>Revised <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>introduction</span></a>, w/hashtags: I loved living in <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/SanFrancisco" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SanFrancisco</span></a> for decades, but moved back to <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Brooklyn" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Brooklyn</span></a> last year to be with my Sweetie. I love languages and <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/linguistics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>linguistics</span></a>; I speak some <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Spanish" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Spanish</span></a>, some <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Japanese" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Japanese</span></a>, and lots of <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/LangBelta" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LangBelta</span></a> from <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TheExpanse" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TheExpanse</span></a>. Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>If I provide an <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/AltText" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AltText</span></a> for you, it&#39;s 100% OK to edit your post to put the text in. And if you do, I will happily delete my reply. I&#39;m not looking for credit; it&#39;s fine if you and I collaborate to make it look like your image had an alt text all the time. In fact, that&#39;s what I want! That&#39;s the best place for the text, not in a reply where people have to go hunting for it.</p><p>So if you reply to my alt text with thanks, be ready to delete your own thanks after I delete my post. 😉</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/etiquette" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>etiquette</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/alt" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>alt</span></a></p>

If it seems appropriate, one can add something like &quot;that&#39;s/you&#39;re very kind&quot; or &quot;that&#39;s helpful to hear/know&quot;.</p><p>What&#39;s going on internally? That might be a very different story. But that&#39;s okay.</p>
Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>...rather than simply reading about it and trying to reconstruct it in their minds. It helps them feel it, just like the character does. 2/2</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/WritersCoffeeClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WritersCoffeeClub</span></a></p>
Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/WritersCoffeeClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WritersCoffeeClub</span></a> Day 4: What are some tips and tricks you use to convey strong emotions?</p><p>So far, the main &quot;strong emotion&quot; I&#39;ve depicted has been ecstatic joy. Some of that is already public, in <a href="https://wandering.shop/@kagan/114201094504049029" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wandering.shop/@kagan/11420109</span><span class="invisible">4504049029</span></a>.</p><p>In many ways, it works like the usual advice about &quot;clenched fists&quot; for anger: much of emotion is rooted in the body. Even if it&#39;s also in other places, or happens in subtler ways, describing it in somatic terms helps readers *experience it*... 1/2</p>

Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>Well, that&#39;s 2:05 of <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/writing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>writing</span></a> work tonight.</p><p>Again, no word count. I&#39;m working on character backgrounds. There&#39;s some stuff that all needs to hang together for various reasons, some of which won&#39;t even come into play until... uhh, *wayyyy* later. But I need to hammer it out now, because it&#39;s all going to have a bearing on this one person&#39;s lifestyle, and hence how and when she needs to leave the event that I want to write a vignette about. 🙄</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/AmWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AmWriting</span></a></p>
Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>Went to a meeting at work where one of the topics was &quot;vibe coding&quot; (and how do we feel about it?). I helped move the Overton window in the direction of &quot;we hate it and won&#39;t use it for anything but toy prototypes&quot;, which I feel good about.</p><p>And I wasn&#39;t the only one, which also makes me happy!</p><p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/VibeCoding" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>VibeCoding</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/AICrap" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AICrap</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/coding" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>coding</span></a></p>

Kagan MacTane (he/him)<p>One thing that makes me very happy about <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/NaNoWriMo" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NaNoWriMo</span></a> crashing and burning: It&#39;s good evidence that the <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/writing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>writing</span></a> world is not even remotely buying into the AI hype. (Unlike another industry I&#39;m involved in... 🙄)</p><p>Having poor moderation practices that enabled grooming? That was bad for them. But promoting AI? That *killed* them.
