New view of the world:

'Tokyo-based architect & artist Hajime Narukawa won Japan's prestigious Good Design Award for developing the AuthaGraph World Map, a groundbreaking projection that preserves the true proportions of continents & oceans.

By dividing the globe into 96 triangles, then transferring these to a tetrahedron & unfolding it into a rectangle, the AuthaGraph map eliminates the distortions found in both the Mercator & Dymaxion maps'

@ChrisMayLA6 it makes France look small in comparison to Britain which I expect the Elyéese Palace would have an opinion on.

@6G @ChrisMayLA6 @lana I started to reply to this, stopped, saved the draft and now have no idea how to retrieve that. Never mind.
No, I didn’t know about True Size maps. Thanks for that. The Japanese map showed the size of Africa but to see it consume the combined US, China and India is sobering.

@6G @ChrisMayLA6 @lana reminds me of the Austrian Emperor in Amadeus whose stock response to anything was, ‘well, there it is.’

@wilpercy @6G @ChrisMayLA6 @lana I had a friend like that but he said “whoop” instead of “what”. We were only friends for a couple days, it wasn’t that long ago.

@passwordsarehard4 @6G @ChrisMayLA6 @lana the friendship was so short because ‘whoop’ annoyed you?

@lana @ChrisMayLA6 @6G @wilpercy Seeing Africa for what it really is in proportion to the US, India and China really underlines how much there is to lose from Climate change rendering the northern half essentially uninhabitable
